Jeff Jonas – Ph.D
An eight-time Emmy award winner, Jeff has been an influential leader in the sports media industry for the past twenty years. Jeff’s creative vision and business acumen have helped bring several different technologies to market, including the First and 10 line in football, K-Zone in baseball and Race f/x in NASCAR. He has received industry recognition for both his managerial and business development contributions, including nomination for the prestigious Street & Smith’s 40 under 40 award.
Jeff is the Executive Vice President for Sportvision, the nation’s premier innovator of sports and entertainment products for fans, media companies and marketers. Sportvision solutions have enhanced experiences for fans and marketing partners of the NFL, MLB, NASCAR, The Olympic Games, NHL, PGA TOUR, LPGA Tour, NBA, NCAA, WTA, MLS, IRL, X Games, America’s Cup and other sporting events On- Air and online. As sports fans demand richer and fuller entertainment experiences, Sportvision delivers a heightened sports-viewing experience across all forms of media. Sportvision has deployed products across live television, internet and iTV for all major sports on all major U.S. networks, including ESPN, ABC, Fox, CBS, NBC, USA, Turner, NFL Network, CBC (Canada), Seven Network (Australia), TV Asahi (Japan), and MBC (Korea). Jeff has been instrumental in forming and fostering Sportvision’s key relationships with major clients (ESPN, FOX, Turner, CBS, NBC, NFL, NHL, NBA, PGA Tour, Comcast, Olympics, and MLB) as well as creating new ideas to bring to market. Under Jeff’s leadership, Sportvision has become the clear leader in the sports technology arena, winning 15 Emmy awards as a company.
Prior to Sportvision, Jeff led a sports technology startup effort, Coach’s Edge, which was acquired by Sportvision in 1999. The vision behind Coach’s Edge was to bridge the gap between coaching insight, technology and media extensions. While at Coach’s Edge, Jeff was responsible for building some of the first multi-media campaigns that connected broadcast and digital efforts. At the time of the Sportvision acquisition, Coach’s Edge had built content rich digital applications with various leading destination sites including ESPN, CBS and Yahoo Sports.
In addition his work at Sportvision, Jeff is an active board member for Basketball Travelers. Basketball Travelers is the nation’s leader in organizing unique tours and tournaments for college and high school sports teams.
Jeff received distinction in earning his Ph.D. in sport psychology from the University of Kansas and holding a B.A. in political science from Carleton College.
